My parents love for the simple gathering on the beach with our extended family during my early years growing up, created a lasting nostalgic love for the beach that has surfaced in my art. Learning to swim, playing with beach balls, sitting, eating and sleeping on beach blankets, building sand castles etc, all created my wonderful happy memories.

Inspired by many beach aerial photography I’ve seen, I worked intuitively and the impressions of Sundays unfolded to me: a dream day of relaxation, joyful fun with family and/or friends in a abstract collage.

Over the years I collected cartoon maps from places I traveled. I love the fun illustrations and they always inspired me. One day I came upon one of my UFO’s: an unfinished Florida map I painted on fabric but never finished. The vision of what I wanted to create with this came to me then. I began to dig into my whimsical stash of conversation fabrics and the fun began. The hunt was on and the ideas were flying. From road trippers, treasure hunting and pirates, boating, fishing, sea life, swimming, castle building, rocket launches, to beach life, and so much more to I SPY.
